Roscosmos plans to work in the market of the Internet of things to create a new satellite system “Marathon”, which will become an integral part of the project “Sphere”, said in the presentation of the Corporation at the disposal of RIA Novosti.
According to the document the Russian space Agency, the main project of the “Field” along with a satellite navigation system GLONASS, remote sensing, satellite communication “Express-RV” and “the Messenger” and relay “Luch” will become a “global system “Marathon”. She will focus on work in the market of Internet of things.
“Satellite communications have several segments. On the market voice satellite communications has been successfully working Iridium, competing with them is almost impossible. Broadband Internet access is OneWeb and Starlink. There is a third segment – the Internet of things. This segment involves success if services are provided at the lowest price, because these systems will also provide such services. If they can win only at the expense of price dumping, it requires fierce optimization of business processes, technological procedures, reducing the cost of satellites. In my opinion, the only private company capable of such a brutal organization of work,” said Jonas.
