The compilation of these 1260+ IoT start-ups ( As of 8 October 2017) came from and update to older Directory launched earlier. We use multiple sources. It came from large corporates, accelerators, incubators , industry bodies like TiE and IESA, VCs and angel investors, start-up investor connect platforms and from media. We thank all our partners for helping us compile the useful information and compile the list of IoT start-ups. The list is available at www.IotforIndia.org.

About the India IoT Start-up Directory
We grew by 31% over 2017. The compilation of these 1260+ IoT start-ups ( As of 17 October 2018) came from and update to older Directory launched earlier. We use multiple sources. It came from large corporates, accelerators, incubators , industry bodies like TiE and IESA, VCs and angel investors, start-up investor connect platforms and from media. We thank all our partners for helping us compile the useful information and compile the list of IoT start-ups. The list is available at www.IotforIndia.org.

New in this iteration is a deeper dive into Specialty. How many are helping waste management or water management? How many Robotics start-up? How may are offering training? Does India have significant fab-less chip or SoC designing companies?

Cities < 10 sentries are merged into “other”. Overall we have 51 distinct cities Companies with foreign only locations are located by country. This year USA HQ Start-ups emerge as a distinct item.
Speciality
We have classified Start-up by offerings like work on FPGA or System-on-Chip (SoC) (Fabless), Drones , Robots or Advertising Technology like Digital Signage. We also have a indicator for how many are working on Waste, Water, Energy (Solar, HVAC etc) or offering education and training . Here is a snapshot

Passive Start-ups
More then 400 Start-ups are 4-year-old and we expect mortality. However, we have not been able to establish this easy to document for following reasons. Help from the community would be appreciated
1 Some start-ups remain passive from launch and then get funded. Example Ten3T funded by Pi Ventures
2 Some strat-ups change the web page migrating from a .com to a .in or a .io TLD
3 Some websites are passive or loose domain provider because of delay in renewal. Typcially this becomes active after some time.
4 Some start-ups migrate to a new brand or website. Sree Sai Aerotech as Muave.in and migrating to Zuppa.
