Abstract: Initiatives range from making more efficient IoT devices, creating awareness and changing behavior to reduce leakage and inefficient energy usage and waste, increasing supply from renewable energy sources and helping end users understand demand and assist utilities in managing demand. We are at the cusp of major changes with feed in tariff, smart metering and other innovation at the early stages of adoption. The core of all these is a SmartGrid which can almost in real time enable stakeholders to know the current demand and provide information and control data to allow stakeholders to switch sources of supply and demand to better match usage . This will be facilitated by a pricing model that encourages new models of supply and use. These models make a lot of sense even for non-urban environments as rural employment also depends on effective energy provisioning. So we see National Utility level grids as well as regional and neighborhood micro grids. Objectives:
