Recommendations are summarised below:
1) Enhance outcome focussed collaboration between Agri organisations & Start-Ups so that real Agri issues can be identified & targeted.
2) Indian Agri is one of the least digitized sectors and several policy-level interventions are needed in this area. (eg sharing IMD data, digitizing ICRISAT maps etc.)
3) Explore alternates for farmer risk profiling (e.g. CIBIL score for farmers using farm-level data).
4) Lower cost of lending by exploring alternates (e.g. peer to peer) to overcome the reluctance of banks and institutions to provide credit to small farmers.
5) Promote a comprehensive “India Agri Platform”, to improve integration of all types and sources of Agri data for composite decision making.
6) Establish clear, transparent rules on data – ownership, usage and shared monetisation in consultation with multiple stakeholders.
7) Encourage Agri Univ. graduates to become entrepreneurs and collaborate with deep-tech co-founders.
