Industries of today are advanced in terms of technology and their implementation. So, there isn’t any scope for disruptive idea that will change assembly lines forever. Instead, there is need for technology that is incremental in nature, which assembly lines can easily adopt to. The need of the hour is not to invent something new. Rather, it is important to leverage existing technologies like artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning, augmented reality, automation and robotics, in a big way, so that the slowing manufacturing sector in India can be revived. The integration of these technologies is what we call the Industry 4.0.
Let us look at how a typical BIW assembly line can be transformed to an Industry 4.0 facility.
