With increased urbanization and lack of open spaces people are unable to grow plants and if you add to it the issue of depreciating water levels in the metro cities, having your own garden seems like a distant dream.
In short, growing plants in a city has become a challenge. To address this issue, Agro2o , a Delhi based agritech startup, has come up with a unique technology to grow plants without soil.
By leveraging futuristic technologies such as automation and IoT , this tech firm has come up with a soil-free farming device that makes it possible for any individual to grow herbs, flowers and even vegetables indoors.Elaborating on the subject, Agro2o, founder, Yash Vyas says, “We are offering a line of soil-free smart garden hydroponics technology , which makes it possible for everyone to grow chemical free plants in their homes.”Hydroponics is the technology of soilless farming by using water, nutrients, and a growing medium.
According to Vyas, unlike the traditional methods, where water is poured on the ground and seeps into the soil and only a small fraction of the water actually gets used by the plant, the hydroponics-enabled system allows for the unused water to be recycled back into the reservoir.Another benefit of hydroponics is the amount of control a grower has over the environment.
You can control the amount of nutrients provided to your plant, thus reducing wastage,” asserts Vyas.Currently, Agro2o’s range of offerings includes, software and hardware integrated IoT solution which automates the complete process of growing plants.
The microcontroller based system can judge and provide the level of light, water, and nutrients required creating an ideal growing condition for the plant,” states the 30-year-old entrepreneur.Agro2o’s smart garden has oxygenated nutrient reservoir that enables the plants’ roots to obtain the optimum level of oxygen
