RIoT picks eight Internet of Things startups from across US for accelerator

RALEIGH – RIoT’s Fall 2019 RIoT Accelerator Program (RAP) includes Internet of Things companies that are tackling everything from taking down pesky backyard pests to better protecting newborns in the NICU.
The RIoT Accelerator Program is industry and stage agnostic, but we are looking for interesting, viable IoT solutions and strong teams.
These eight companies came out of RIoT’s most competitive application cycle yet, both in terms of number of applicants and maturity of companies and founders.
This applicant pool was also RIoT’s most diverse to date.
Industries represented ranged from industrial/manufacturing, consumer product, energy, medical device, smart cities, agriculture, and textiles.
Teams hail from the Triangle, Charlotte, Virginia, and California, and are working on technology solutions in the energy, healthcare, consumer product, and textiles industries.
RIoT expects the founders will leverage the diversity of the cohort to learn and grow together over the 12-week intensive program starting September 9.

Currently targeting the events market, BatteryXchange pilots have seen as many as 30% of total event attendees use their charging solution.
Intake was recently awarded two Phase 1 SBIR grants to advance their technology development, and plan to leverage RAP to explore different go to market strategies for the device in medical and consumer applications.
The Charlotte-based founder and former TED fellow is now taking her learning from RETI to create JouleScout, a demand response solution that leverages dynamic incentives to better align utility providers and consumers.
Next Systems is a textiles concept solutions company focused on research commercialization for on-body sensors.
Founders Jennifer Peavey and Jess Jur have first developed a multi-modal sensing garment for industrial applications, to monitor long-term health trends and reduce workload stress
