I believe the first cybernetic iteration of China was the only solid and sound political response to the technological drivers. The second iteration needs to be co-led by Millennials, as the expertise of the generation that build it has its roots firmly in the analogue. It cannot but lose the ability to take the risk it took with the Great Firewall. The Firewall should become a Gateway, exporting the Chinese model to the rest of the world, potentially ensuring a hegemony of at least two to three decades. Gramsci defined hegemony in his days (1920s) as the need to ensure cultural domination before acceding to political power. He would now define it as the technological domination that is necessary to exert political influence. Only the Millennials as the bridging generation between the current leadership and the generation under 18, can ensure that the political building blocks remain vital.
