I believe the first cybernetic iteration of China was the only solid and sound political response to the technological drivers. The second iteration needs to be co-led by Millennials, as the expertise of the generation that build it has its roots firmly in the analogue. It cannot but lose the ability to take the risk it took with the Great Firewall. The Firewall should become a Gateway, exporting the Chinese model to the rest of the world, potentially ensuring a hegemony of at least two to three decades. Gramsci defined hegemony in his days (1920s) as the need to ensure cultural domination before acceding to political power. He would now define it as the technological domination that is necessary to exert political influence. Only the Millennials as the bridging generation between the current leadership and the generation under 18, can ensure that the political building blocks remain vital.
In our model all categories of being: resources (raw materials), goods, machines, animals, plants and people have digital footprint and digital twins. At a higher level the AI and analytics will find particular synergies and combinates of these digital twins more realistic and interesting then what constitutes the old category that we still perceive as confined; a person, an object, a good, a location, a situation. This not a deviation but a logical hyper extension of the very notion of bureaucracy; “Peter Blau (1956) long ago argued that detailed information that offends or irritates the individual from whom it is requested is exactly the requirement of efficient and effective administration.”
